On the edge Rihanna, showing off her style and expressing her love for fashion on the “In style” magazine of August.
We really loved her night silk dress with soft pink ruche, like the one from Valentino’s fall – winter 2008 collection and the rocker ankle boots from the Babouska fall – winter Gucci collection. Really on the edge!

We have already been talking about Christian Bale and the new chapter of Batman in whose feature he wore exclusively Giorgio Armani, hand made just for him.

After the big success of the Gucci Hysteria collection, Frida Giannini created a new line of accessories for the fall – winter season 2008/09. This collection, like the prêt a porter, is inspired to Russia, and its name reminds that too.

Studs, fringed items, suede trims and pendants decorate bags and shoes of the Babouska collection, for a rich mix of folk and rock style. On this occasion, the typical Gucci crest detail, that is the symbol of the fashion house introduced since the Hysteria collection, changes its shape into a heart, becoming a pendant.

Gucci’s commitment for Unicef carries on.
Since 2005, over Christmas, Gucci maison delivers an accessories line in limited edition, whose part of the income goes into charity to help orphan children in the world.
Also this year, Gucci’s brand is getting ready for the realization of the charity campaign for which singer Rihanna is lending her image.
Everybody knows the feeling between the young queen of music and Gucci’s brand. As a matter of fact, Rihanna has always been showing off Gucci’s outfits, and her passion for the Italian griffe has always been declared. Not to mention the party organized by Gucci in her honour.
This mutual admiration is leading now to a collaboration for an important charity cause, with the realization of the “Tattoo Heart” campaign in December.

Austere lines played with incredible charme and sophisticated behaviour for Prada fall – winter collection 2008/09, perfectly captured by Steven Meisel shots and Linda Evangelista’s class.
Prada’s new ad campaign for next season proposes a retro allure convincing at first sight. Very different from the spring summer collection whose theme was that of fairy tales, this campaign wholly catches the style of the new collection, where the fairy tale leaves the floor to mysterious atmospheres of a noir movie.

It’s been few months since Valentino, internationally famous designer for generations, delegated the artistic direction of his maison to young Alessandra Facchinetti.
Instead of saying goodbye to the world of fashion forever, Valentino carried on being interested to his vocation thanks to many commitments he is involved with.
After the book “Valentino.Una grande storia Italiana” (Valentino. An important Italian history) Taschen Editors, after the show at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, “Valentino, Thèmes et Variations” dedicated to him, it’s time for a cinematographic production.
“Valentino: The last Emperor”: this is the title of the movie documentary celebrating the career and the wit of the Italian designer, Valentino Gravani. The documentary has been directed by Matt Tyrnauer (journalist for Vanity Fair) and is going to be presented at the Venice show.
The movie is about Valentino, his style and elegance. Style never goes on holiday. When we deal with summer clothes, these light and fresh, sensual and funny mini dresses are what we think of straight away. They are presented in a flowery patchwork fantasy and they belong to the D&G DOLCE&GABBANA spring summer 2008/09 collection.

Ideal dresses no matter what, easy to wear for a casual style with level shot sandals or gladiators (like those shown in the shots, from the D&G DOLCE&GABBANA as well) in perfect seventies style.

Ideal to change style, these dresses will look terrific either worne on their own or as tops on flared jeans and a leather belt on the waist like in the show parades.

After commenting the party celebrating the 70s birthday of Gucci fashion house, held in Rome, we want to give a closer analysis to the Cruise collection 2009 and its fashion show.

Frida Giannini’s new collection is clearly inspired to a luxurious hippy style. Wide dresses, caftans, large trousers and flared trousers, gipsy colours and fantasies.

“I thought to Talitha Getty and Lee Radzwill, Jackie Kennedy’s sister. People were hippy but very chic during those years of flared trousers”. This is Frida Giannini comment for the new collection. Orange and brown are the most preferred colours with lots of white and a touch of light blue.
The collection also featuring tailleurs and bon ton jackets, always in a sixties style.

Three more images for three fall winter 2008/09 advertising campaigns which are animating all fashion magazines.

Brasilian Isabel Fonatana for Versace, posing for Roberto Cavalli and Valentino too, wears a very geometric dress with vertiginous high wheels, extremely coherent with the mood of the fashion house. Mario Testino took care of the shots.

Fendi prefers a metropolitan style, New York is the background for the new campaign realized in April at the Madison Square Garden, guided by Karl Lagerfeld, and testimonial Raquel Zimmermann.

For Dior, Model Daria Werbowy beauty has been captured by photographer Craig Mcdean. She wears an orange tailleur with three quarter sleeves and the 61 Bag with half circle and rigid handle round her arm perfectly in harmony with the 60s style of the Christian Dior fall - winter collection 2008/09.

What does fashion deal with super heroes? Everything if they are signed by Giorgio Armani, the king of Italian fashion in the worldIn this case our super hero is Batman Bruce Wayne, alias Christian Bale, wearing a hand made Giorgio Armani suite created specifically for him. Christian Bale look will involve other exceptional dresses and accessories with the unique signature: Giorgio Armani for Bruce Wayne. In order to realize Bruce Wayne elegant wardrobe for the coming movie “The dark knight” Giorgio Armani worked with costume designer Lindy Hemming.
For this occasion has been realized an advertising campaign catching two birds with one piece of bread by representing the imminent launch of the movie and the Giorgio Armani collection “Hand made, tailor made”. In May, the Italian designer was the godfather of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York for the show Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy, so this is not the first time he is mixing the world of fashion and cinema, movies “American Gigolo” and the most recent “Lions for lambs” are both Armani’s signed for instance.
Lindy Hemmig commenting this extraordinary collaboration: “For Bruce Waynne style, me and Chris Nolan would search for an elegant and precious style in contrast with Batman’s, Bruce alter ego. We strongly believed that the Armani brand could be perfect for the classical – contemporary look we wanted to achieve for Bruce, and I do believe that Armani style reflected our idea”
