Giuseppe Zanotti: perfection in details.

 zanotti-cornice.jpg

Behind this shoe, perfect in style and care ness, a talented designer with a perfect touch is what lies beneath. A designer who can balance elegance and sophistication with eccentricity and creativity, keeping faith to tradition and looking forward to the innovation.

No one better than Giuseppe Zanotti, king of women’s shoes made in Italy, can hit the goal. Every season, collection after collection, Giuseppe Zanotti’s creations present something extraordinary and unique. Jewellery shoes, décolleté or sandal with precious heel are the most expressive creations of the designer.

What’s new in this year Giuseppe Zanotti collection is the internal plateau. From décolleté to sandals, from ankle boots to the newest pumps, the 2008/09 fall winter shoes collection, is all conceived with the internal plateau, hidden beneath the leather or the fabric of the shoe. A striking and lighter interpretation of the dominant must have of next winter, surely the platform shoes.

Fashion trends: the magic of White and Black.

White and black…day and night… light and darkness…
Fascinating combinations capturing imagination, opposites in attraction.

blackandwhite.jpg

Things work like this in fashion too, where the magic of the contrasts play such an important role; designers use these opposite tonalities to create one of the most attractive chromatic combinations in the world.

There are many designers who experienced the seduction of the white colour, source of every colour, and its opposite, black. Giorgio Armani played with such a glorious combination in his 2008/09 fall winter woman collection. Apart from jackets he used this combination on asymmetric cuts, optical fantasies and wool fabrics.

Moschino fashion house, in fact, got inspired by the classical black and white and re created a chic modern version of jackets and military coats, and, more than that, he applied the chromatic contrast on tunic dresses with rouches.

When talking about black, eclectic British designer John Richmond is a representative name, and over this season he puts the colour side by side to the shining white of jackets and official style coats. Last but not least, Balenciaga goes back to black and white in a bon ton version where the chromatic contrast becomes a geometric leit motiv like the cuts of the dresses and suits.

Versace sponsors the Whitney Museum of American Art Gala

 versace-museum1.jpg

The Whitney Museum of American Art took place in New York like every year. Versace sponsored the 2008 edition. The famous maison has always been linked to the world of art since its founder Gianni who was passionate of modern art and collector of works from artists like Andy Warhol, Gustav Klimt and Alexander Calder.

The passion for art seems to be a common feeling for the Versace family, up to now with Donatella who is deeply concerned about it. The 2008/09 fall winter woman collection is a real tribute to Art, the result of the collaboration between the designer and Tim Roeloff who re invented the medusa (ndr: the icon of the Versace maison) print through his art.

Donatella Versace’ s new project focused on the sponsoring of the annual gala and of the Studio Party to support the art and the Whitney Museum. The guests of the event were all wearing Versace creations which turned the night into an ideal fashion show for the maison.

Christina Ricci picked a 2008 fall winter Atelier Versace dress; Juliette Lewis went for gorgeous Versace platform combined with a bustier dress, and Helena Christensen wore a one shoulder dress from the2008/09 Versace fall winter collection.

Patrick Dempsey, testimonial of the Versace man collection, was there too of course, wearing a silk and wool two buttons suit from the 2008/09 fall winter Versace man collection. Sting wore a suit from the very same collection, he came together with his wife Trudy Styler who was wearing Versace too.

Sound that designer Donatella Versace and daughter Allegra would be wearing outfits from their very own maison.

 copertina-tesi.jpg

The distribution strategies of the fashion enterprises: the Giglio case.

This is the title of Lidia Sambito thesis, who got her degree at the Scienze della Formazione faculty in Palermo. She introduced a deep analysis of the fashion enterprises and their position within the wide reign of the Made in Italy, and she chose the Giglio group as example, with its seven fashion boutiques (in fact, 8 with the online store.

We felt thrilled of being treated as object of study and analysis, a proper “case” as far as strategy is concerned, with special care for the fashion enterprises.

Supported by her supervisor, professor Gioacchino Fazio, Lidia Sambito faced the issues connected to the enterprises communication, retail, customer satisfaction and made in Italy, with a whole chapter of her thesis entirely dedicated to the Giglio group, made out of people, experience, quality, innovation, growth and passion.

The thesis focuses on interesting topics such as the market segmentation in the fashion system, taking into account the different branches of price, the life styles and the fashion trends, the marketing, the format and the location of the enterprise and the growing link between fashion and internet.

2008/09 fall winter fashion: Mrs. Robinson in Christian Dior.

 00150m1540.jpg 00210m1491.jpg 00120m1561.jpg

In a season where the 50ees and the 60ees are in the fore front after making the history of fashion, no fashion house paid such a high tribute the 60ees like Christian Dior did.

If the Gucci collection is a tribute to the extreme folk by the 70ees, John Galliano picks the glamour of the 60ees by drawing for Dior a Mrs. Robinson able to be chic night and day. And it’s exactly on the tunes of Simon&Garfunkel “Mrs. Robinson” that the Christian Dior fashion parade we saw last February went on.

Bon ton sheaths, bell-shaped coats, Prince of Wales or hound’s tooth dresses and tailleurs, is what women are dressed of by day. From trapezium to round shapes, wool neutral colours such as grey leaving the floor to amazingly printed silk fabrics ready to welcome the night among frills and precious lace.

Fall winter 2008/09: Moschino Cheap&Chic bow bag.

senza-titolo-1.jpg

Drawn bows, applied bows, bows anyway. The real trend of 2008/09 fashion are the so called bow bags, bow shaped like bags.

Icon of femininity, with its frivolities and tweeness, little clutches, such as Valentino’s, and bigger shopping and tote bags, inspired by the bow shape as the new, trendy shape.

A good example is the Moschino Cheap&Chic bow bag, which you can admire above, a bubbly, cool must have for next fall winter season. Made out of polished naplak, the Moschino Cheap&Chic bow bag has one pocket each side, and a frontal buckle, which is what provides that peculiar shape. Same model is available in black (as shown in picture) and plum coloured, according to the winter fashion as colour is concerned.
