It’s been few months since Valentino, internationally famous designer for generations, delegated the artistic direction of his maison to young Alessandra Facchinetti.

Instead of saying goodbye to the world of fashion forever, Valentino carried on being interested to his vocation thanks to many commitments he is involved with.

After the book “Valentino.Una grande storia Italiana” (Valentino. An important Italian history) Taschen Editors, after the show at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, “Valentino, Thèmes et Variations” dedicated to him, it’s time for a cinematographic production.

“Valentino: The last Emperor”: this is the title of the movie documentary celebrating the career and the wit of the Italian designer, Valentino Gravani. The documentary has been directed by Matt Tyrnauer (journalist for Vanity Fair) and is going to be presented at the Venice show.

The movie is about Valentino, his style and elegance. The designer has been followed for two years by Matt Tyrnauer’s cameras, catching the most important moments of his professional and private life. Valentino himself said: “This is going to be a great honour for me, and an occasion to strengthen the link I have always had to the world of cinema”. 

The Cannes Film Festival has concluded and has given us a myriad of fabulous red carpets, each of which we saw a parade of celebrities with dresses and accessories of the best designers of the international panorama.

As always the Italian designer labels have been selected from numerous stars who have worn the creations of the most prestigious designers like Roberto Cavalli, Alberta Ferretti, Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Giorgio Armani… obviously other great international fashion houses are not missed among which one of the preffered ones have been Christian Dior.

The very beautiful Mila Jovovich, for the closing evening of this edition of the film festival, has chosen a turquouise dress by Versace.

Sean Penn, president of the jury for the assignment of the Gold Palm, wore a stylish tuxedo by Giorgio Armani.  

After Alicia Keys and Armani, The Spice Girls and Roberto Cavalli, now there is another music star that puts his trust in Italian fashion for his world tour. We are talking about the rock star Lanny Kravitz and the Florentine fashion house of Gucci.

For his “Love Revolution” tour, that starts at Spain in May, Kravitz will wear 20 fabulous different looks, complete of clothes and accessories, designed by Frida Giannini for the autumnal Gucci Men collection, that is visibly inspired by rock, like we could see and appreciate at the fashion show in Milan.

The style and creations of Frida Giannini seems in fact perfect for a rebellious musician like Lanny Kravitz that have always demonstrated his passion for an eccentric look, super tight fitting pants, flashy belts, skinny leather clothes and shirts that are open with many necklaces and chains to be seen. A true rock star!

A winning couple among fashion and music, involving more and more pop and rock stars that again prefer Italian fashion.

We don’t know yet the details but that’s a sure news: Ridley Scott is going to direct a movie about the story of the Gucci maison that was established in Florence in 1921.

The movie, so far at the planning stage, will be a documentary, on the illustrious fashion house’s story, that will tell especially about the time seeing Maurizio Gucci, the founder Guccio Gucci’s heir, as the director of the maison. It will deal also with his tragic murder during a show.

There are no news about the actors and it’s impossible to know when the movie will be at the Cinemas but we can imagine the picture will arouse curiosity and great interest. That’s because Gucci is on the most highly considered and demanded fashion brands and a great example of the prestige, the quality and the elegance of Italian fashion recognized worldwide.
