Hi Antonella, tell us a little bit about yourself (who you are/what you do/where you’re from, etc.).

I am from Lima, Peru. At eighteen I went to Madrid, Spain, to discover the world. I fell in love with the city and I stayed there for seven years. I always like the art and culture, this isbecause my mother is an artist. Since childhood I remember seeing her mix colors andcreate new things every day.
During my stay in Madrid, I realized that fashion was a way to express my feelings, so I got into a fashion school. While studying design, creation and fashion styling at the School of Velez Per, I worked at a telemarketing company to cover all my expenses.
Effort and reward were positive, I graduated with honors, thing that I feel very proud. 3 months ago I returned to my hometown to contribute my grain of sand to Perú.

How would you define your style?

I sincerely believe that I am quite chameleon. I dress according to the day, the event and especially on my mood and how I feel.
I can be anything from a very sweet girl and elegant or soon to be a rock n roll star.
By day I use flat shoes with a look more relaxed and at night are basic heels and shine a little.

How did you find your sense of style?

Throughout my life experiences, my travels and my beliefs.
I consider myself a visionary of fashion and art.

What inspired you to start a style blog? What motivates you to keep blogging?

I started my blog while I was doing my thesis to graduate in fashion design. The company I was working broke, so I stay some time off at that time and decided to invest in a fashion blog. Suddenly the idea occurred to me to express to the world my way of viewing the world through my fashion sense. I began to be well received and since then I keep posting, definitely what keeps me blogging is the great reception I got from thepeople that follow me and read me

How did you choose the name of your blog?

It occurred to me because Madrid is widely used the word “FLIPA” which means, to hallucinate, I love or like. Truth has many meanings and it all depends on how you use it.At one point that “FLIPA” was part of my everyday vocabulary and one day I said: ME FLIPA LA MODA, I note in my notebook and I named my blog.

What was the best comment you ever received from a reader?

I received many beautiful, the most recent at best might be this: “YOU’RE A QUEEN OF FASHION”, was a shame that was anonymous.

Who/what inspires you?

Being alive is my inspiration.

What are your favourite pieces in your wardrobe?

My vintage jewelry, my Converse with studs, that i customize it myself and blouses with transparency.

Lots of attitude and knowing what you want.

Ingredients:

• 250 gr. Fresh strawberries
• 150 gr. Fresh cream
• 1 egg white
• 2 tablespoons sugar
• 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Preparation (Time: 20′)

Put in your blender or food processor the strawberries with sugar and lemon juice.
In a bow, whip cream until stiff peaks form. In another bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff.
Fold whipped egg whites into strawberries. Then add whipped cream, stirring gently.
Pour into small portion cups and keep it refrigerated all night long.
Garnish with strawberries or wild strawberries and a dollop of whipped cream!

A mix of feminine, sexy and rock, well actually my style changes every single day but one thing is sure, my look always needs to have something special, like a strong color, lipstick, amazing high heels or just cool jewelry.

I remember when I was younger, people always stared at me, my mom always found me really funny. Every single day I was changing clothes like 10 times a day, creating my “own” fashion show and entertaining my whole family and this is how I discovered that I loved fashion or at least clothes and dressing up.

Things like that can make my day!!!

Who/what inspires you?

The world, obviously people and the pieces I buy, I travel a lot so I meet a lot of amazing people, see amazing places and wherever I am I need to buy at least something from that place, even if it’s a top, jewelry or even a souvenir. These things inspire me!

What are your favourite pieces in your wardrobe?

I have this jacket of Stella McCartney of the Resort 2011 collection and I cannot stop staring at it, also a clutch of Zara from last summer which I basically always wear when I go out mixed with my black clutch of Balenciaga.

What is your top fashion tip?

Just do it, I mean, if you like what you wear, fuck the world and wear it! It’s just wherever you go or do, people always have a opinion, it could be good, it could be bad but all you need to do is believe in yourself!

Do your reseach, nowadays there soooo many bloggers that do the same, only a hand full is new, creative and dare to be different. Try to find your niche, are you doing a lot of DIY, start a DIY blog, are you a model, show the world how is your world, people like to know what’s happening behind the scene. And don’t try to be fake, like photoshopping yourself to much or try to be a nice people if you are actually a bitch, people will find it out anyway!

What importance do social networks have for you?

I have a addiction to social media, whatever social media tool i’m able to use I would like to use! Especially for my blog, without social media, I wouldn’t have the ability to grow and meet my followers.

I wanna go shopping, especially vintage shopping.

I have a seriously weakness for Asia so I say Hong Kong, somehow the fashion really attracts me, the way the mix high street brands with vintage pieces or just really cheap garments or the combinations they make with sporty and casual! They love to mix every single thing and it still looks great!

How would you describe fashion in the city where you live?

Here in Barcelona I can basically wear whatever I want, Barcelona is a very creative, open, hippy and warm city which really helps choosing what to wear, the Spanish people in the big cities are trendy, open-minded and love to wear heels, compare d to my dutchies in Holland, who are basically most of the time wearing sneakers and boots. The spanish people are obviously very into Zara, Bershka and Stradivarius so depending on their age they go from hippy, alternative to casual, sexy, fashionable. The thing is here in Spain is that you never know what some people would wear, one day they wear a dress with a amazing clutch or very high sexy heels and one day the wear the same dress with cool biker boots and a jacket!

What message do you hope to send to your readers?

That it’s fun and cool to be different, I believe that nowadays people are to scared to come out of their comfort-zone, try to look further then your friends that try to keep you small, believe in yourself that you are able to be different cause believe me, the world is so much creative, happier and cooler then you think!

I live in downtown Chicago- probably one of the best cities in the world! I have a love for fashion illustration, wardrobe styling, artwork, and everything in between, in addition to modeling. I knew my whole life that this market was my calling. I am also getting involved as a wardrobe stylist and personal shopper, which is a long time goal of mine. It brings me great joy to help other women look the best they can, to help them become confident with themselves and embrace their bodies as they are.

What inspired you to start a style blog? What motivates you to keep blogging?

My passion for blogging began about 6 months ago. I love being involved in the fashion industry any way I can, so I wanted to have an outlet to share my creativity with others, as well as to inspire women to be their own version of a “City Gurl.” I want to be not only a fashion blog, but more of a resource outlet for women who want to discover information on beauty, health, and industry news as well! If you use ideas from other fashion bloggers constantly, people will be able to tell. Try to make your layout and your content as different and unique from others as possible, so that you can call it your own.

Who/What inspires you?

Living in Chicago is one BIG inspirational journey. Everywhere I go I am inspired. By the people, by the architecture, by the nature (yes there are parks in the city), by everything. The sense of style of a city-goer is extremely eclectic, so different. I really enjoy walking around my neighborhood just to see what other people are wearing; it is like a little fashion hobby of mine.
The energy the city of Chicago gives off clears my mind to come up with innovative ideas. Usually, a person needs to be in complete solitude to maintain a clear mind, but I need high buzzing energy. Strange, I know.

What importance do social networks have for you?

Social networks are the way I connect with my readers! They are extremely important. Every blogger and every business needs to be involved in social media. That way, you can achieve a more personal connection with others. I love using Facebook and Twitter because I can talk about topics or issues that I do not discuss in CGS. It can keep my readers entertained constantly when I don’t have new content up.

What is your favorite thing to do when not blogging?

I consider myself a bundle of creativity. When I’m not blogging I’m always on the go doing things I have a passion for. I teach dance to girls aging from 6-13 which I love. They always bring a smile to my face. I have been modeling since I was 11, and am now also entertaining the idea of getting back into acting as well. I also love to paint and draw. Soon I will be featuring some of my artwork on CGS, but I can’t give away details!

For You, what is the world’s most fashionable city?

I would have to say New York. Not because it is THE MOST fashionable city, but I admire the taste in fashion and style the people in NYC have. I think every city wears different trends at different times. I traveled to New York in January, then San Francisco in February, and thought the people were equally fashionable. In my opinion New Yorker’s have more of an edgy, constructed taste in clothes, and Californian’s admire more of the loose and comfortable trends.

How did you find your sense of style?

That took a great deal of trial and error. My worst style habits started in 7th and 8th grade, when I started to experiment. The horror, I would come to school wearing a checkered skirt, white leggings, and a neon yellow t-shirt. I started to find my sense of style about 4 years ago, when I became seriously involved in modeling. I was around more people that had actual fashion sense, and started shopping more and reading more about the industry. It just happened naturally to me at that time then, and now I love my personal style. It defines who I am!

What is your top fashion tip?

Wear what makes YOU feel good. Just because someone claims that blouse is “soooo last season”, doesn’t mean it won’t look smashing with the rest of your outfit. You don’t necessarily have to follow all the current trends religiously. If everyone did that, then we would all dress the same, there would be no individuality. That is what I believe is most important in fashion, finding your own unique style, and showcasing your individuality with your everyday style.

My name is Federica and I’m a 21 years old girl from Rome. I’m studing Journalism at the university and I dream to become a journalist or a writer. I would like to work in the world of fashion, but I still haven’t decided what I’m going to do in my life. I’ve been working with children for years and I’m actually writing about fashion on a local magazine.

How would you define your style?

My style mostly depends on my mood: I would say that I’ve got two opposite souls, a feminine and bon ton one, and a male and rock one. I try to mix them up, changing the combination day by day.

What inspired you to start a style blog? What motivates you to keep blogging?

When I started blogging, I didn’t know what a “fashion blog” was. I wanted to share my opinions about fashion and style, writing articles as exercise for my future job.
Then I started to follow some popular fashion blogs and I decided to get into this world.

How did you choose the name of your blog?

During the Sixties, the word “freak” was related to an anticonformist behavior, and that’s just what I am…I chose this name for my blog because I think it’s easy to remember and it evocates the willing to be different that is inside each person. And after all, Freak can mean Free, sometimes.

Who/what inspires you?

I’m always inspired by the past: I love Sixties and Seventies, I always look at old pictures and videos. I’m in love with the Beatles, and I think their the biggest inspiration in my life!
Moreover, I spend a lot of time blogging and searching news on the web…I try to combine the past with the modern, giving a vintage appearence to what I wear.

Starting a blog is a hard work: you have to post often, to know everything about the latest trends, to write interesting articles and to get in touch with your followers!

Social networks are really important for every blogger, because they help you to reach a lot of people and to get in touch with them.

I love reading good books, listening to music, playing my guitar or just going out with friends, to do some shopping together!

I think that Rome is underestimated…When you think about fashion in Italy, you look at Milan: I hope in future we will be able to prove that Rome can be good as well!

Hi Gentiana, tell us a little bit about yourself (who you are/what you do/where you’re from, etc.).

My name is Gentiana, I am 23 years old. I was born and raised in Germany, I have Albanian roots and I live and study in London. I am a passionate “Fashion Marketing” student and enjoy the big fashion metropolis London. I couldn´t live without music, lipsticks, bubble gum (only the sweet flavours) and my long nails!

How would you define your style?

Honestly, there is no definiton for my style. Your style and what you wear depends really on your character and your mood. You can´t put me in one box. I really love conspicuous and unique outfits, but I also like minimalism. I do love strong and powerful colours (neon colours are my favourite). My style is a mix of urban, sporty, chic, elegant but always young with a little edge. There is always a detail which makes my style look different. Either it is my love for hats and scarfs, my colourful lipsticks or some accessories which I always ad to my outfits. People sometimes don´t recognize me. Today you might see me with some nice high heels and an elegant dress, tomorrow it could be exactly the opposite. I love to change and to play with my style and my hair. I love so many styles that I couldn´t decide even if I had to. Having one particular style would be probably to tedious for me. There is no era or style I like to follow. I mix up everything even though it might not match together at the very first sight.

I think you were born with the sense of style. I´m sure I got influenced by my mother and my sister. I also got influenced by the 90´s music scene. I just wear what makes me feel comfortable. As long as you feel good, you verbalize these feelings to others without any words. Music and movies played a big role in my style.

STIMULATE IT (EYE, HEART, EAR, MOUTH)

You do stimulate your senses with things that you see, read or hear. Stimulating your ear basically means that you get a feeling by seeing pictures. You get inspired by “Outfit posts” or you fall in love with “Architecture” pictures. The same happens to your HEART by reading something, it happens to your EARS by hearing music and MOUTH stands for all the delicious restaurants I have been to. My blog should be a blog about art. Not only about fashion. My style can´t be put in one genre so can´t my blog. I love to talk about things that I like and are on my mind.

What is your favourite thing to do when not blogging?

Singing! What a lot of people don´t know. I do sing! And can´t wait to show you guys something as soon as possible.

For you, what is the world’s most fashionable city?

A really tough question. I think I have to say Paris, New York and London. They´re all fashionable in their own way and I love the fashion in all three cities.

How would you describe fashion in the city where you live?

London is different and unique. This city gives you a feeling that no other city could give you, in my opinion. …You have a lot of strong fashion characters in London. People without any fear of showing themselves and mixing the most craziest styles together. For example, Rihanna. Her last album was really influenced by the style of London´s fashion. The fashion here is really expressive, rebellious and powerful.

What message do you hope to send to your readers?
