Ioanna, tell us a little bit about yourself.
Reality and dreams.. Aspirations and inspirations.. Maybe there is a day for everyone, when you get so inspired that you aspire to turn your reality into your dream. Then, you start wandering on the paths where your dreams guide you, living that way the sweetest reality! My path brought me to London, and this was just the beginning of the most inspirational journey of my life. I obtained my Masters degree on Strategic Fashion Marketing in London College of Fashion and I also attended Fashion PR and Fashion Styling courses at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. Working in the fashion industry of such an inspiring city –which to me is one of the world’s fashion mecca – filled me with ideas, experiences and valuable pictures that helped me to come back to Greece, which is my homeland, and establish my career and fashion path here.

What inspired you to start a style blog? What motivates you to keep blogging?
Moving from Greece to London to study at London College of Fashion, I felt the need to create something on my own in order to express my love for fashion, editorials, inspiring people, and professionals behind the “lights” that turn women’s dreams into reality! A huge amount of content was derived from my life and activities in London, more especially from fashion exhibitions, museums, galleries and fashion shows. That is how I decided to use all this material and turn it into a blog. The title of the blog represents exactly what I do and what fascinates me the most. I wander around the magnificent world of the fashion industry and through my blog I invite you all to wander together.

How did you find your sense of style?
From fashion, cities and people that inspire me. I would say it is a mixture of personal emotions and feelings, a way to express the way I feel every single day.

What inspires you?
Peolple with quality, strong personality and allure, music, movies, exhibitions, and street style blogs.
Books about the history of fashion. Innovative designers such as Elsa Sciaparelli, Sophia Kokosalaki, Mary Katrantzou.

For you, what is the world’s most fashionable city?
Undoubtedly Paris

What are your favourite pieces in your wardrobe?
My snakeskin Roger Vivier sandals, a white mini backless Arrogant Cat dress and my Chanel bags.

What is your favourite thing to do when not blogging?
Being at work, walking around the city with my friends, reading other blogs and travelling.

What is your top fashion tip?

Feel free, confident, love yourself and your body, find your fashion identity and support it! And do never leave home without the most valuable accessory – Your smile.

What importance do social networks have for you?
It is a must as a source of inspiration, interaction, and promoting your work and your aesthetic.

How would you define your style?
Sometimes it’s more classic, other times more rock’n'roll… But black is definitely my colour!

How did you find your sense of style?
My style depends on my mood.

What inspired you to start a style blog? What motivates you to keep blogging?
I really love fashion and I love to write, and with my blog – Cutting Edge – I can do both.

How did you choose the name of your blog?
I’ve always liked and used a lot the english expression “cutting edge” to describe something avant-garde, pioneer, revolutionary, trendy… and that’s what I want my blog to be.

What was the best comment you ever received from a reader?
Everytime a reader says that I inspire them, I feel great and I feel that my work and passion for Cutting Edge is recognized.

What are your favourite pieces in your wardrobe?
Winter: I can’t live without black leggings, UGG boots and a leather jacket. Summer: Denim shorts, blouses and sandals.

What is your top fashion tip?
“Less is More”

What advice do you have for new bloggers or people considering starting a blog?
Be creative, be one of a kind and chase your goals!

Your first thought in the morning?
“What am I going to wear??!”

What is your favourite thing to do when not blogging?
Going to the cinema, shopping or go to the shops to be inspired to blogging later, read, read other blogs.

For you, what is the world’s most fashionable city?
New York City

Mel, tell us a little bit about yourself (who you are/what you do/where you’re from, etc.).
I’m an advertising manager working in the media industry in London and living far beyond my means. Originally (and still at heart) I’m a country bumpkin from Winchester. My job is hard work but also comes with lots of perks like luxury treats, lunch at top London restaurants, award shows and VIP festival trips. I am a fashion addict and have a serious problem with shopping, I love travel and spend most my money on these two things: fashion & travel. I am also the very proud owner of my blog www.mediamarmalade.com which is where my very own fashion journalist ultra ego comes out to play.

How would you define your style?
Defining my style is not an easy feat as it’s quite eclectic. I am an absolute fashion junkie and tend to try the latest trends in one form or another. I’m pretty girly, absolutely love shoes, and have an addiction to designer handbags. My fashion style is a complete mix of high street and designer and so you are most likely to find me in my Topshop skinnies, KG heels, cute Zara blouse, animal print fur coat with one of my many trusty Mulberry handbags. Ultimately I dress dependent on the mood I am in, and so my style will change from Posh & Rah, to cute and girly, to rock chic or ultra glam.

What inspired you to start a style blog? What motivates you to keep blogging?
I’ve always been seriously into fashion & style. Since I was born I’ve been addicted to bags and I’ve grown up wanting to be a fashion journalist … well fashion editor really and my blog appears to be my very own way to combine my too dream activities. Working in the media opened me up to the blogging world, and with some serious encouragement from my friends I decided to start my own. I’ve not looked back once and only wish I’d started sooner. I love sharing my latest styles or purchases with everyone and I’ve had an amazing reception from the blogging community which keeps me motivated to keep doing more and more.

How did you choose the name of your blog?
The name of my blog originates from a nickname my Grandpa gave me when I was a little toddler, my Grandpa has a nickname for everyone in the family and mine happens to be marmalade. I also thought it was suitable, as the perks I get from working in the advertising industry are pretty jammy too. Mediamarmalade felt like an original and completely personal name for my blog.

What was the best comment you ever received from a reader?
Oh gosh, picking one comment is near impossible. Every comment means so much and when people write to tell you how much they love reading your posts and following your outfit ideas it makes everything feel even more worthwhile. There really isn’t a better feeling than seeing new followers, post comments or getting interest in your blog. I did this year also win British Style Blogger of the month award which was such an amazing achievement for me. My blog was relatively new at this point and this gave me such a great buzz and inspired me even more to blog.

Who/what inspires you?
Wow, what doesn’t? I think everything in life inspires me really, my travels and the different cultures that I get to see and experience, the magazines I constantly read, other fabulous style bloggers, my family, celebrities, fashion designers, movies, being successful & receiving good feedback.
Style wise I wouldn’t say there isn’t one particular icon that inspires me, but I must admit I love the style and looks of Edie Sedgwick, Rachel Bilson, Blake Lively and Mollie King. They choose such fab fashion pieces and always work a look that I’d love to have myself.

What are your favourite pieces in your wardrobe?
I have a few favourite wardrobe pieces; my Mulberry collection is my pride and joy. I have 6 or so bags now, and love them all dearly. I am also a bit of shoe collector and now have a very large range of killer heels, cute pumps, and quirky boots which I adore. I love my Kurt Geiger cream strapped 6 inch sandals which look fab with my leather trousers and a big glam fur jacket. I am a very big fan of my fur coats and silk scarfs, I have quite a lovely selection building up.

What is your top fashion tip?
Simple: Have the confidence and conviction in yourself to wear the clothes you really want to. Be brave and admire your own choices & style.
I am also a big fan of mixing cheap & chic, it’s geat to combine some bargain jeans with your Reiss blouse & Fendi handbag. A collective wardrobe is always a winner for me. And don’t think you have to fit to one stereotype … you can be whoever you want to be, dress in whichever style you please, on whatever day you choose.

What advice do you have for new bloggers or people considering starting a blog?
GO FOR IT. It’s one of the most rewarding hobbies (if you can even call it that, it does takeover) I’ve ever had, Its so therapeutic and if you love fashion, craft, cooking, art, photography, writing or whatever it’s a fab way to express yourself. It’s also a great community and you get the chance to meet so many lovely people.
My only other tip is to be patient, don’t expect to be the best, have hundreds of followers and get invites to sit at Fashion week. You need to do this for yourself and anything else that comes with it is a total bonus, but shouldn’t be your motivation. Take your time, be yourself, and keep your integrity, that’s what’ll keep your readers coming back.

What importance do social networks have for you?
Social networking is how I’ve built my follower base, met other bloggers & been introduced to fab new fashion brands. It’s absolutely integral to blogging, in my mind the two come hand in hand and my blog wouldn’t have progressed so much had it not been for all the publicity it gets from twitter. I believe not just for bloggers, but brands and designers in general social networking and building a trusted community with your fans and consumers is 100% essential in modern day society.

Your first thought in the morning?
Is it really morning already? Oooooh, what shall I wear today? And will someone make me a cuppa!

What is your favourite thing to do when not blogging?
I actually have a couple of hobbies other than shopping and blogging, I love skiing and go away every year, I’d like to get my instructor qualification one season. I also play netball every week, this is one of my oldest & favourite hobbies. Generally, I love seeing my boyfriend, family, friends, eating good food, shopping, drinking red wine and champagne, cycling on my gorgeous pashley bike and drinking vanilla lattes. Working hard and playing hard tends to be what takes up most my time.

In this series, we’ve been interviewing some of our favorite fashion bloggers around the world, today our featured blogger is Sabrina of Patchwork à Porter.

Sabrina, tell us a little bit about yourself (who you are/what you do/where you’re from, etc.).
I’m Sabrina Tassini, an Italian blogger of Patchwork à Porter fashion blog, I was born and I live near Bologna moving to Milan during Fashion Weeks and events. I live between university books, articles, photos, outfits and I love wandering through the world in search of inspiration. Outside of blogging I am a student in fashion and marketing communication, insanely fashion addicted, art lover and crazy globe trotter.

How would you define your style?
My style is clean, minimalist and full of vintage treasures. Up to now I love mixing rock items like studs or leather with bon ton ones, I think it’s a great combination. I follow trends but always staying into my personal taste and I love wearing clothes make me feel good, boho chic, but most of all comfortable and not only fashion.

How did you find your sense of style?
I think it depends on my background. I spent my childhood breathing in closets, trunks full of clothes and accessories. My mother, as my grandmother before her, was affectionate to chic boutiques and now opening their wardrobes I always sought out new vintage treasures that I wear every day to combining with my contemporary items. I also enjoyed whit cut out my favorite outfits from fashion magazines and then I reassembled those into collages.

What inspired you to start a style blog? What motivates you to keep blogging?
I love writing, in fact before opening this blog I had another one in which composing short texts of creative writing, a kind of poetic virtual diary, but fashion has always been my main interest since childhood. Then I thought “why not join them?” And so last December was born Patchwork à Porter, the fashion blog in which I vent both passions.

How did you choose the name of your blog?
The title was perhaps the most difficult step in the creation of the blog. I was looking for one that was closely related to my philosophy of life. The word “Patchwork” literally means “work with the pieces” and the second part “à Porter” means “to wear”. I think the best things that distinguish us most are many different pieces can be assembled and worn just like changing t-shirts depending on the mood.

What are your favourite pieces in your wardrobe?
In my closet can’t fail vintage foulards I love ‘cause I wear with all the clothes, an oversized mannish blazer, maxidress to wear with soft and oversize pull, hats, my shining clutch made by sequins and some rings and bijoux bought in NYC . Maybe one other item I love for its comfort is galoche that accompanies me on rainy and snowy days .. how can I do without? ..

What is your top fashion tip?
My advice is not to exceed the look we wear: remember that every occasion has its own, even if vast, dress code. By this I mean that the line between appropriate and inappropriate is very unstable, so we should wear only what makes us feel good, and what represents best our personality. Valorise ourselves and don’t trade our personal taste for a fashion accessory!

What is your favourite thing to do when not blogging?

Outside of the blogging I love staying in touch with nature, sports, photography, travel and experience different ethnic cuisines. But what I love most is stay awake until 4 am maybe reading, writing or watching talk shows next to a tea: this is my nerdy side!..

For you, what is the world’s most fashionable city?
It may sound corny but I think NY is the most fashionable city for some reasons. I experienced by my own its colors, scents, sense of style that reigns in all areas of the center and beyond. The 5 Av is definitely the street I preferred for street style and shopping as well but also places like Times Square can become a scene of wonderful outfits; these because in NY people are not just in fashion but creates fashion. There is anarchy! Every corner of Manhattan becomes a source of inspiration and I remember admiring how people live together perfectly with their style, even though weird. I love that atmosphere!

What message do you hope to send to your readers?
The message is very simple. We bloggers don’t propose an absolute model in fashion, but simply show our personal taste, style and thought. By this, I would like to say that it is right to follow the trends just as long as we like them and they truly represent us. “fashion” in my view is most of all synonymous with feeling comfortable with what you wear, embracing our true nature, which is rock, retro, bon ton, sportly or other, not forgetting to be sincerely ourselves!

We have seen during the spring-summer fashion shows that white will be the color trend of the next season! Moreover, embroidery, flounces and ruffles will star in these romantic and pure dresses! As we can see in the pictures from the Alberta Ferretti, Ermanno Scervino and Valentino fashion shows.

So, let’s take advantage of the winter sales and why not anticipate the spring trend?
The A/W collection was focused on white color. As we can see in the Balenciaga silk dress with precious applications. Moschino chooses, instead, the jacquard fabric for its “little white dress”. Moreover, among the trendy winter dresses, we can also see the one shoulder dress model as Gucci has proposed.

The next season will delight us with pure and innocent-looking white dresses but with the transparencies in the right places, they will be also attractive and above all very chic!

Marie, tell us a little bit about yourself (who you are/what you do/where you’re from, etc.).
My name is Marie and I blog for my site The Maven Post. I am from Los Angeles, California where I do viral marketing consulting for brands as well as work for Barneys New York.

How would you define your style?
I am a bit of a chameleon when it comes to style. There isn’t any one genre I would place myself. I either like something or I don’t. I never shop with the intent of finding something particular. I enjoy great design, craftsmanship, and over all uniqueness of clothing. I look at it more as art and that is how I decide on what I wear. I love contemporary lines, designer lines, as well as vintage. I don’t put myself into a box when it comes to style.

How did you choose the name of your blog?

The Maven Post name was birthed with the idea of one day becoming bigger than a personal style blog. I wont be young forever taking photos of myself in the streets so I wanted a name that I could grow with. I started my blog with the hopes that my followers who enjoy my aesthetic now will continue to follow the transformation of The Maven Post when that time comes.

Who/what inspires you?
I am inspired by the world around me. Where I travel, who I meet, what I see, and my day to day life encounters. I am very observant and enjoy the inspiration I get from watching the world around me.

What are your favourite pieces in your wardrobe?
I am a huge bag collector. I believe a great bag can make almost any outfit look amazing. They are my weakness! I also love vintage jewelry. Things that are unique and interesting are always fun to me. Dont hate me but I love a good fur too…

What is your top fashion tip?
Only splurge on timeless pieces. Getting excited over something that will be outdated in two months can limit you and your wardrobe unless you truly love it. I am guilty of this but I try to follow it as best as I can. Also of note, and this is a personal assumption, any genre of style whether it be the vintage girl, the designer lover, to the modern asymmetrical, raw cut, Rick Owens type, as long as you refine your look to be polished in its way, that makes for an amazing look. I makes you look like you know what your doing and are on point with your outfit. Also, closet flushing is a must. Holding on to pieces that don’t carry any great value and you never wear anymore can limit you to exploring new pieces. And lastly, have fun with it. Unless you are Carine Roitfeld or Amanda Brooks, where it is your job to look amazing all the time. Dont hold back. And Im sure the latter peoples mentions before have fun with it just as much.

What importance do social networks have for you?

Social networks are what drive traffic to your blog. Sites such as lookbook.nu, Chictopia, Facebook, Twitter, etc. all drive traffic to your site which is the end goal. Building yourself to in essence “be a brand”. I think for most influential bloggers, this is a job to them and to deny social networking would be a large hurtle to face. It makes blogging more fun and lets more readers discover your domain.

Your first thought in the morning?
Caffiene. LOL. I have a morning routine wherein I get up drink caffiene, check my email, my blog, and zone out before the day starts. A personalized form of meditation I like to think of it as. Sounds weird right?

What is your favourite thing to do when not blogging?
I love to shop, obviously. Also, reading, walking around on adventures, and spending time with my husband and my dog Helmut (Lang) always make for a good hang.

How would you describe fashion in the city where you live?
Fashion in Los Angeles never ceases to surprise me. With the studios, music scene, and the plethora of vintage, there are so many unique fashionable people. Different areas of the vast city generally dictate its fashion style. On the east side, there is more of an alternative, indie, hipster scene. The west side, a more designer driven polished look. But an amalgomation of the two can be seen at any point in time. In downtown LA, you can walk in to a Starbucks and find a man in an expensive suit, a girl in her pajamas, a hipster, and bum. Quite an array of the spectrum. That is also what I love most about the fashion scene in this city.

However, today we do not want to deal with Kate, but with another princess, one who drives all France crazy. She is the muse of many designers like Karl Lagerfeld … Well, we imagine you understand who we are talking about, of course, Charlotte Casiraghi, the Princess of Monaco.
The beautiful twenty-five years old girl got herself talked, above all, about her sophisticated style and during the last days she has also denounced paparazzi for violating her privacy, who caught her with her new boyfriend, the forty-something actor Gad Elmaleh.
Jumping the gossip, let’s focus on her style! Charlotte is a horse-riding champion and her daily sporty-chic style can be easily imitated! How? Thanks to Jimmy Choo boots, a nice white pants like MCQ McQueen, a Versace blue blazer with gold buttons and a shirt.

While in the evening, the princess prefers to opt for a sophisticated look by choosing clothes of the finest luxury fashion houses both French and Italian. Let’s be inspired by her style and choose YSL Tribute sandals in suede and a grey Alberta Ferretti dress with embroidery and lace.

Erika, tell us a little bit about yourself (who you are/what you do/where you’re from, etc.).
I have 27 years and I live near Milan. I work in the banking world that is a world completely different than fashion.
I’m a sunny person, I like traveling, reading, sewing and photography.

How would you define your style?
I have a style highly variable and therefore it is difficult to define my style because it is influenced by trends and on my mood.

What inspired you to start a style blog? What motivates you to keep blogging?
I opened the blog by accident a year ago, partly out of curiosity to the new bloggers world, a little
encouragement for the people who know me and to show what I love.

How did you choose the name of your blog?
My free choice means freedom of choice in fact, here in my online space I can
freely choose what to show, perhaps without the constraints of fashion or thoughts of others.

What was the best comment you ever received from a reader?
There is not a comment more beautiful than another … each one helps to understand where to improve
and what is most appreciated, they give you all the grit to keep going!

Who/what inspires you?
There is a particular model from which I draw inspiration, but I wear what I like.
There are many factors that influence my style because I read fashion magazines, follow blogs that I love
or maybe the look is decided simply by starting just bought an accessory.

What are your favourite pieces in your wardrobe?
My red Celine boston bag but even though I love every single piece of my wardrobe.

What is your top fashion tip?
Anything that is glittery and a fluffy sweaters.

What advice do you have for new bloggers or people considering starting a blog?
Have perseverance and commitment to put in what you do.

What importance do social networks have for you?
Too much. For a blogger social networks are essential, both in terms of contacts,
both for upgrades, almost all the brands in the industry operate online.

Your first thought in the morning?
I hope not to miss the train! (For going to work)

What is your favourite thing to do when not blogging?
Listening to music, watch movies and create clothes.

For you, what is the world’s most fashionable city?
New York, definitely.

How would you describe fashion in the city where you live?
Well, I think that Italy, for centuries, from the very beginning has had this incredible sense of style.
It can be seen in Renaissance paintings, the way people dressed, their clothes, the art they communicate.
When I think of Made in Italy, the first thing that comes to mind is the quality, the quality of fabrics,
the quality of tailoring, the quality of production.
In Milan, the style is very chic, sophisticated pity that people do not dare to do more with colors.

Who/what inspires you?
There is a particular model from which I draw inspiration, but I wear what I like.
There are many factors that influence my style because I read fashion magazines, follow blogs that I love
or maybe the look is decided simply by starting just bought an accessory.

What importance do social networks have for you?
Too much. For a blogger social networks are essential, both in terms of contacts,
both for upgrades, almost all the brands in the industry operate online.

In this series, we’ve been interviewing some of our favorite fashion bloggers around the world, today our featured blogger is Laureen of Break My Style.

Tell us a little bit about yourself (who you are/what you do/where you’re from, etc.).
I’m actually a 22-year-old actress/entrepreneur/blogger from Manila. I’m part of a tv series called “My Binondo Girl” and for a living I have a small business Stylebreak that started online and is now inside malls. Everyday though, when I have the time,I make random posts on my blog.

How would you define your style?
I’m still very experimental, but this 2011, I see myself loving prints and pastels. I’m not girly, but I’m not grunge. I’m still trying to solidify my look.

How did you find your sense of style?
By experimenting and experimenting. I think I’ve tried all the looks I can: preppy, edgy, rocker, glam, etc.

What inspired you to start a style blog? What motivates you to keep blogging?

It was actually a birthday gift for myself last October 2010. I wanted to start a visual diary and keep track of my fashion sense. So that even 5 or 10 years from now, I’d still get to see the looks I’ve done.

What was the best comment you ever received from a reader?
That I changed her life because of my blog and my fashion. She told me she didn’t like dressing up and that she didn’t have any confidence, but when she saw my blog her shyness went away. She now dresses up and it changed her life. Some people may think dressing up is so shallow, but it’s a way of showing your inner self to the world, and you’re sharing a part of you out there. It makes you more confident.

What are your favourite pieces in your wardrobe?
A bright balenciaga bag, mide waist shorts, sheer/ printed tops and YSL tributes

What is your top fashion tip?
Always wear heels.

What importance do social networks have for you?
I have an online website and a blog, so if you ask me- my career and my job is because of social networking. I believe it’s still going to grow and grow.

Your first thought in the morning?
“I’m so late.”

How would you describe fashion in the city where you live?

Believe it or not, people here are very fashionable and trendy. We follow the latest trends and a lot of people like to dress up in the Philippines.

What message do you hope to send to your readers?
Thank you and I promise you guys I will continue to make you guys interested.
